Canon rebel t1i questions?!?

Hello, I was wondering, is there a difference between the Canon Rebel T1i and the Canon EOS 500D?
It seems to me like they are the same cameras, but i am still not positive.

Also, with buying this camera, what is the best lens for taking videos?

Thank you for your time.

Yeah, same camera, just called T1i in North America and 500D pretty much everywhere else.

A wider angle lens would be best for shooting videos, not sure of a specific model though. Just any of Canon's should be good =)

They are same model. Canon T1i used in US while 500D used in Europe & Asia.

I would opt for a lens with a constant max aperture, such as the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC (not the OS version) as this has a good everyday range, a nice shallow depth of field at 50mm for portraiture, good useable wide angle and the aperture won't change as you zoom.
