Why do pictures come out ugly inside?

I just bought a camera (Samsung TL225) and it's pretty great but when I take pictures inside without the lamp they come out ugly and look like they were taken from a cell phone. Does anyone know why? I never had a problem like this with my previous cameras.

Probably lack of light. Use your flash or see if you have another way to increase the indoor lighting.

Two problems you are encountering when using the primitive cameras found on all cell phones.

1) inside there is very little light, so the camera automatically increases the ISO sensitivity of the cameras sensor causing noise in the image file.
2) Most internal lighting is either incandescent or fluorescent, so unless the camera in your phone is highly sophisticated when the white balance is set in the auto mode, your images will show colour shifts either toward yellow (incandescent) or green (fluorescent).

Combine numbers one and two and you will get 'ugly' pictures.

There is an additional issue. Under low light, the shutter speed will be slower too, so unless you are careful, you will get camera, subject movement or both causing blur

I think that for the price it should be taking perfect pics, however you can adjust the white balance setting it to custom and try which setting works better in different conditions of light.
Sometimes it takes some patience to get to know your new camera.
Good luck!
